&TV’s Mitegi Laxman Rekha to go off-air
&tv’s Mitegi Laxman Rekha (Shashi Sumeet Mittal Production) is all set to bid adieu to its viewers in the coming days.
Starring Shivani Tomar and Rahul Sharma in the lead role, the story depicts the Struggle of the rape- survivor .
Along with Tomar and Sharma, Mitegi Lakshman Rekha featured an ensemble cast including veteran actors like Jayashree T, Vaishnavi MacDonald, Amit Thakur, Rahul Lohani and Ravi Gossain amongst many others.
Even after having a good concept and ensemble cast, unfortunately, the daily soap couldn’t fetch good numbers for the channel. Hence, the channel has decided to pull the show off-air.
As per latest reports, The cast and crew have already been informed about the show going off air and they are expected to wrap up their shoot in next week and the last episode of the drama will be aired on end of the August.
Talking about the same with IWM, Rahul Said, “It was a good show. It is unfortunate that the channel did not give more time to its sensitive, rape- survivor subject. Such message-driven concepts need some leeway before gaining traction.”
“Further, our super-competitive 9.30 time slot put us up against biggies like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Kundali Bhagya, which certainly worked against us.”
“I am sure, had we been given a couple of more months, we would have really come into our own, justifying the real theme of the show i.e. a woman fighting back. By the time the real drama opened up, it was too late, for the plug had already been pulled. This lack of trust in a good product does rankle a bit.”
